Since January 2009, the 1911 England and Wales census has been available online to researchers. This was three years earlier than originally expected, thanks to the hard work of Guy Etchells. However, there was one catch.
The last column on the household schedule had to remain covered up. The 'infirmity' column contained information about mental health, blindness, deafness, etc., and had to remain hidden due to the 100 year publication restriction of sensitive information.
On 4 January 2012, this restriction will be lifted.
Details about your ancestors' conditions and illnesses will be shown on the digital images of the 1911 census. More information about this exciting release is available at findmypast.co.uk Blog.
